Los CristianosLos Cristianos lies on the south coast of the Tenerife in a wide bay with a backdrop of volcanic mountains. It is without doubt one of the most popular holiday destinations across all the Canary Islands.
The clean, artificial beaches, charming fishing harbour, all year round sunshine and an endless list of local attractions, all go to make Los Cristianos one of the most attractive European beach destinations.
The town tends to attract a more discerning holidaymaker, compared to its neighbour Playa de las Americas. It has made a great effort to ensure that all new development stays within the feel of the original architecture, and still emanates the atmosphere of the old fishing village that it once was.
BeachesThe beautiful golden beach of Los Cristianos has actually been made with sand imported from the Sahara Desert. The beach gently shelves into the Atlantic Sea, which is normally calm, but can have some strong undercurrents.
There are a host of water sports available on the beach, including windsurfing, diving, jet skis, sailing and light hearted activities such as banana boats. There are also businesses along the beach that offer sailing trips, pleasure cruises, glass bottom boats, diving excursions and ferries to La Gomera.
In fact Los Cristianos is one of the best places to set off on a deep sea safari, trips can be taken from the harbour.
A lovely clean promenade runs all the way along the beach to the neighbouring resort of Playa de las Americas.
